Our First Guest Adventurers - Paul and Cathe

Every week we will set out on an entertaining new odyssey, bringing our Guest Adventures to new and fascinating locations, while providing invaluable information about the best way to plan and organize each expedition. It is important to learn how to leave these sacred places the way we find them to ensure they will be open to future explorers for generations to come.  By practicing the tenets of Tread Lightly and by having respect for the challenges presented by the backcountry, we hope to help our viewers understand that it is possible to fully enjoy the outdoor adventure experience while minimizing our impact.

Each exploration of the world around us broadens the participant’s horizons and opens up their awareness.  Our goal is to bring the beauty of the natural world and the spirit of adventure into the homes of our viewers. We hope to encourage them to see that life is truly not a destination, but a journey that is exhilarating and rewarding by itself.

For our Pilot Episode we chose retired police officer Paul Childers and his wife Cathe to join us.

Following is a copy of the letter Paul and Cathe sent us when they heard about our show...

Hi ... . We' re Paul and Cathe Childers from Carlsbad, Ca.

I'm planning on cutting down my hectic hours as an office manager for a consulting firm next year, and we figure "adventure" should be the theme of our "golden years". So we just recently purchased a Jeep Rubicon to try our hand at 4-wheeling!

We both enjoy outdoor activity, the beauty of a pristine environment, the excitement of spotting wild life in it's natural habitat, listening to the sound of nature, seeing places that are "off the beaten track" and yes ..... stopping so I can take pictures of the wildflowers!

Paul is an old hand at camping, but I'm brand new at it! It's a dream come true for me to break out of my "city girl" persona and go places I've never been, travel the "roads less traveled". Paul has talked of camping in the places he's loved..Grand Canyon, Mt. Whitney, Copper Canyon, Death Valley, Alaska.

So we're ready to pack the Jeep with a tent, sleeping bags and see the wonders of the continent! We've heard about "America's Hidden Treasures" and figured this was exactly what we had in mind! We're beginners at the 4-wheeling thing, but if Excitement and Enthusiasm can make up for our lack of experience .... WE ARE THE GUESTS FOR YOU!

Look forward to hearing from you,

Paul and Cathe
